About the role


This position is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of high-quality services programs and experiences using each customer engagement as an opportunity to strengthen ties with the community and promote the Citys vibrant identity.

The Senior Library Officer plays a vital role in delivering outstanding customer service that aligns with the City of Parramattas strategic vision as Sydneys Central City. By working collaboratively within a team and engaging effectively with the public the officer ensures every interaction contributes to a positive and welcoming library experience. This role is central to fostering community connection and supporting Councils broader objectives

On a daily basis you will:

  • Deliver memorable customer experiences aligned with Councils Customer Service Charter and Phive Customer Service Competencies Framework using every interaction to build positive connections with the community.
  • Assist the Branch Librarian/Team Leader with daily operations such as rostering asset management and programming and coordinate small projects to enhance service delivery.
  • Train staff in library operations and digital resources and support customers in using ICT services and mobile apps to improve their technology and literacy skills.
  • Facilitate early literacy programs for children and digital literacy sessions for adults offering one-on-one and group support in using new technologies.
  • Perform general library duties including shelving tidying and collection management while ensuring customer service areas remain clean organized and welcoming.

About You


The successful candidate should have previous experienceof service delivery and improvement with excellent communication skills and the ability to actively listen to and understand customers needs. You will be organised and self-motivated a team player with a cooperative attitude and a mindset of inclusivity and support for colleagues.

You will also bring:

  • Completion of an Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) accredited Course or (eligiblemembership of ALIA) and relevant experience.)
  • Working with Children Check
  • Criminal History Check
  • Operational library and/or customer service experience with a proven track record of achieving objectives
  • Experience in delivering small projects and meeting specified deadlines.
  • Experience in or the ability to quickly acquire providing a range of library or targeted customer programs that meet community needs (readers advice collections or programs.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills with exceptional ability to deliver memorable experiences.
  • Well-developed planning organisation and time management skills including the ability to meet tightdeadlines and balance competing priorities.
  • Well-developed conflict resolution skills with a focus on de-escalation and win-win outcomes.

Whats on offer


We are offering an attractive remuneration from $82692.71 to $91067.29 plus 12% superannuation.
