- Act as Interpreter between students parents and school staff from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English and Spanish
- Interpret with no additions or omissions
- Handle three-way Hotline interpretations between school staff and parents
- Completion of daily phone activity logs
- Must be available to work evening Saturday and on short notice for meetings
- Render clear and exact translations of written materials following guidelines
- Pursue continued development of skills and knowledge
- Be an actively contributing team member and support the District mission
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
- All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification as appropriate
- Bachelors degree preferred; Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. Equivalency) plus 60-college hour
- Two years of experience as translator/interpreter
- Demonstrate strong written and oral language skills in Swahili and English including proofreading with keen attention to detail
- Experience with the use of Google docs Word PDFs
- If working remotely from home have an adequate work environment to process calls
- Strong organization time management prioritization problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to learn the use of FM transmitters/receivers (interpretation equipment)
- Must have reliable transportation
- Demonstrate ability to work independently
- Exemplary attendance
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to work with a diverse group of individuals
