Job Summary
The Project Engineer II will be responsible for product design and development activities for our Commercial Rooftop Packaged and SplitHVAC&R systems. As a member of the product engineering team this position will have to perform lead and coordinate activities related to system and component modeling simulation design prototyping testing andanalysisandallotherengineeringactivitiesfromconceptthroughproductlaunchaswellastakepart in cost improvement and product maintenance activities. This position will play a key role in new technology development and validation activities.
This position will serve our Air Conditioning DivisionlocatedinFort Smith AR.
Responsibilities
Support engineering projects from concept through launch using Rheems structured phase gate development process.
Conductdetailedthermo-fluidanalysisofcurrentandnewproductsusinganalyticalmethodsin-housedesigntools/softwareandothercommercialsoftware.
Conduct necessary background research analysis and testing of various design options as it relatestokeyrequirements (includingapplicableproductandteststandardsperformancecost manufacturability installability serviceability) and project schedule scope and cost.
CoordinateactivitiesasnecessarywithotherfunctionssuchasSourcingManufacturingQuality and Finance etc. to ensure successful completion of projects.
Activelyengagewithvendorsofvariouscomponentsandsub-systemstosuccessfullydevelop the product through active collaboration specification review evaluation and analysis of the purchased parts.
Design analyze and select components for HVAC systems including compressors coils fans valves and controls ensuring optimal system integration and performance.
Plan and conductconcept and validation testing to evaluate system performance reliability and compliance with internal and external standards.
Investigateandtroubleshootproductdesignrelatedproblemsandopportunitiesdocumenting findingss and performing corrective/improvement changes.
Identifyopportunitiesforproductimprovementsandexploitsthesethroughdesignmodifications.
Createreportsandpresentationsonproductandprojectactivitiesperiodicallyandasrequired.
Manageprojectsoflargeandsmallscaletoensureprojectisexecutedwithintimecostand budget constraints.
Acquirein-depthknowledgeoftheRheemsproductdesignengineeringandservice capabilities as well as manufacturing and quality standards.
Acquirein-depthknowledgeofapplicablecodesandstandards (including but not limited to UL AHRI ASHRAE IECC Title 24).
Acquirein-depthknowledgeofRheemsandcompetitiveproductsandkeepabreastofindustry activities and product and technology trends.
Support the development offactory- and field-installed accessories for commercial HVAC systems.
Own and manage documentation including design specifications engineering drawings BOMs test plans and technical reports.
Drive continuous improvement and support value engineering cost-reduction and quality initiatives.
Performotherdutiesasrequesteddirectedorassigned.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in MechanicalChemicalAerospaceorrelatedEngineering
3yearsofexperienceinproductdevelopmentrelatedtoHVAC&Requipment
Experience working in aphase gate product development environment.
Demonstratedproficiencyinapplicationofthermo-fluidmodelinganalysisdesignand development of products and systems.
Mustbehandsonandhaveexperienceinworkinginalabpreferablyinamanufacturing environment.
Demonstratedabilityinworkinginproductdevelopmentteamsandleadingotherengineersand lab technicians.
Demonstratedproficiencywithdataanalysisincludingstatisticalanduncertaintyanalysis.
Demonstratedabilityindesigningexperimentsinterpretingexperimentaldataconducting analysis drawing conclusions and preparing summary reports.
Abilitytoreadanalyzeandinterprettechnicalproceduresandregulations.
Demonstrated computer proficiency in all business-related software packages (e.g. MS Office) aswellasexperiencewithspecificapplicationsandprogramsrelatedtodesignengineering(i.e. Creo SolidWorksPro/Eetc.)Familiarity and/or experience with CAE analysis (FEA CFD).
Proficiencyinprojectmanagementmaterialsmanufacturingprocessesandbusinessprocesses.
Workingknowledgeofnewproductandtechnologydevelopmentprocesses.

Experience incomponent selection system design and integration.
Hands-on experience withpsychrometric reliability and safety testing ofcommercial HVAC products.
Knowledge ofULAHRI andASHRAE standards as well as state and local codes.
Direct experience withcommercial rooftop packaged HVAC systems.
Direct experience withfactory- and field-installed accessories.
Understanding of DFM/DFA principles and manufacturing processes.
Organized and detail-oriented able to manage multiple projects and prioritize appropriately.
