Job Summary

Description

The Project Engineer II will be responsible for product design and development activities for our Commercial Rooftop Packaged and SplitHVAC&R systems. As a member of the product engineering team this position will have to perform lead and coordinate activities related to system and component modeling simulation design prototyping testing andanalysisandallotherengineeringactivitiesfromconceptthroughproductlaunchaswellastakepart in cost improvement and product maintenance activities. This position will play a key role in new technology development and validation activities.

This position will serve our Air Conditioning DivisionlocatedinFort Smith AR.



Responsibilities
  • Support engineering projects from concept through launch using Rheems structured phase gate development process.

  • Conductdetailedthermo-fluidanalysisofcurrentandnewproductsusinganalyticalmethodsin-housedesigntools/softwareandothercommercialsoftware.

  • Conduct necessary background research analysis and testing of various design options as it relatestokeyrequirements (includingapplicableproductandteststandardsperformancecost manufacturability installability serviceability) and project schedule scope and cost.

  • CoordinateactivitiesasnecessarywithotherfunctionssuchasSourcingManufacturingQuality and Finance etc. to ensure successful completion of projects.

  • Activelyengagewithvendorsofvariouscomponentsandsub-systemstosuccessfullydevelop the product through active collaboration specification review evaluation and analysis of the purchased parts.

  • Design analyze and select components for HVAC systems including compressors coils fans valves and controls ensuring optimal system integration and performance.

  • Plan and conductconcept and validation testing to evaluate system performance reliability and compliance with internal and external standards.

  • Investigateandtroubleshootproductdesignrelatedproblemsandopportunitiesdocumenting findingss and performing corrective/improvement changes.

  • Identifyopportunitiesforproductimprovementsandexploitsthesethroughdesignmodifications.

  • Createreportsandpresentationsonproductandprojectactivitiesperiodicallyandasrequired.

  • Manageprojectsoflargeandsmallscaletoensureprojectisexecutedwithintimecostand budget constraints.

  • Acquirein-depthknowledgeoftheRheemsproductdesignengineeringandservice capabilities as well as manufacturing and quality standards.

  • Acquirein-depthknowledgeofapplicablecodesandstandards (including but not limited to UL AHRI ASHRAE IECC Title 24).

  • Acquirein-depthknowledgeofRheemsandcompetitiveproductsandkeepabreastofindustry activities and product and technology trends.

  • Support the development offactory- and field-installed accessories for commercial HVAC systems.

  • Own and manage documentation including design specifications engineering drawings BOMs test plans and technical reports.

  • Drive continuous improvement and support value engineering cost-reduction and quality initiatives.

  • Performotherdutiesasrequesteddirectedorassigned.



Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in MechanicalChemicalAerospaceorrelatedEngineering

  • 3yearsofexperienceinproductdevelopmentrelatedtoHVAC&Requipment

  • Experience working in aphase gate product development environment.

  • Demonstratedproficiencyinapplicationofthermo-fluidmodelinganalysisdesignand development of products and systems.

  • Mustbehandsonandhaveexperienceinworkinginalabpreferablyinamanufacturing environment.

  • Demonstratedabilityinworkinginproductdevelopmentteamsandleadingotherengineersand lab technicians.

  • Demonstratedproficiencywithdataanalysisincludingstatisticalanduncertaintyanalysis.

  • Demonstratedabilityindesigningexperimentsinterpretingexperimentaldataconducting analysis drawing conclusions and preparing summary reports.

  • Abilitytoreadanalyzeandinterprettechnicalproceduresandregulations.

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in all business-related software packages (e.g. MS Office) aswellasexperiencewithspecificapplicationsandprogramsrelatedtodesignengineering(i.e. Creo SolidWorksPro/Eetc.)Familiarity and/or experience with CAE analysis (FEA CFD).

  • Proficiencyinprojectmanagementmaterialsmanufacturingprocessesandbusinessprocesses.

  • Workingknowledgeofnewproductandtechnologydevelopmentprocesses.

  • Hands-on experience withpsychrometric reliability and safety testing ofcommercial HVAC products.

  • Knowledge ofULAHRI andASHRAE standards as well as state and local codes.

  • Direct experience withcommercial rooftop packaged HVAC systems.

  • Direct experience withfactory- and field-installed accessories.

  • Understanding of DFM/DFA principles and manufacturing processes.

  • Organized and detail-oriented able to manage multiple projects and prioritize appropriately.

  • Self-directed and quick learner takes ownership of tasks and projects with minimal supervision.

  • Astrong communicator who thrives in a collaborative team-based environment.
