SUMMARY

This position is part of the Storm Water Services Engineering and Design Division and is primarily responsible for supporting the Design Program by assisting with project engineering activities and tasks related to stormwater design work. This position currently allows for a hybrid work schedule.

The salary offer for this position is: $80862.30 - $89846.99 Commensurate with Experience

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field inspections of stormwater assets to assess their condition and functionality.
  • Inspect and document site conditions for active projects during the planning phase.
  • Coordinate survey requests and utility location efforts in the field.
  • Support engineers in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses by developing drainage areas and models.
  • Assist in the preparation of construction drawings for storm drainage improvement projects.
  • Review in-house designs to ensure compliance with design standards CAD requirements and constructability principles.
  • Assist with the development of construction cost estimates.
  • Prepare and distribute project communications and assist in other outreach efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of hydraulic and hydrologic modeling principles and methods.
  • Ability to learn and understand hydrology& hydraulic software such as:
    • HydroCAD
    • HEC-RAS
    • HY8
    • Arc-GIS
    • StormCAD
    • Hydroflow
  • Experience or ability to learn AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software applications.
  • Ability to plan prioritize and organize work and complete assignment in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with city employeesand the public.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A valid drivers License good driving record and ability toobtainand maintain a City Driving Permit

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as an Engineering Intern.
  • Knowledge and experience in storm water management and engineering principles.
  • Recent civil engineering graduates are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related field.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
