If you enjoy working with team members whose defining characteristics are exceptional client service initiative professionalism responsiveness and adaptability you may be the person we are seeking to join our Document Services department in our Chicago office as a Legal Document Assistant.

The Legal Document Assistant is responsible for the creation preparation troubleshooting and proofreading of documents in all forms of MS Office media Firm specific applications and other Firm equipment for a variety of requestors.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Execute advanced word processing tasks with a focus on complex document work with precision and efficiency
  • Handle document duplication PDF creation and editing
  • Manage email correspondence and provide comprehensive support to attorneys
  • Provide expert guidance and support in troubleshooting scenarios
  • Operate independently following written instructions with minimal need for supervision or intervention

Qualifications

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of two years secretarial experience required

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office products and additional legal software applications required
  • Minimum typing speed of 70 wpm preferred

Performance Traits:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm
  • Ability to work under pressure meet deadlines with shifting priorities
  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
  • Strong customer service skills able to anticipate needs
  • Strong attention to detail organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion
  • Exercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements:

  • May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.

The typical pay scale for this position between $85000 and $113000 although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidates education experience skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.
