Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design KLAs Global Products Group (GPG) which is responsible for creating all of KLAs metrology and inspection products is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist software engineers application development engineers and senior product technology process engineers. First to deliver the best imaging and classification data for every defect or point on any layer at any time. EBeams mission encapsulates its role as the eyes of KLAs product line providing timely information on defects and critical locations on the wafer at the highest spatial resolution possible. Customers use EBeam products alongside KLA patterned and bare wafer inspectors to quickly understand the nature of defects and other imperfections on product wafers and take action to correct the manufacturing process.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Responsible for maintaining and driving reliability improvements of eBeam demo lab Scanning Electron Microscope systems by diagnosing troubleshooting and debugging sophisticated optical/electro/mechanical equipment computer systems coupled with software solutions. These systems comprise of several complex sub-systems and hardware such as Wafer handler Electron beam columns Electron detectors Optical Microscope Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX) unit Vacuum robots Vacuum pumps Vacuum Chambers Residual Gas Analysis equipment High precision XYZ Stage.

  • Drive eBeam Demo lab systems maintenance and reliability improvements support systems and applications characterization of current and next generation state-of-the art semiconductor wafer inspection review & metrology products. Design test plans collect data perform analysis publish results and recommendations. Act as a two-way conduit of information between Design/Engineering teams and Applications teams.
  • Develop strong knowledge of overall system operation system integration and system calibrations. Drive solutions for equipment/tool issues.
  • Engage with other relevant engineering functional teams. Host meetings with technical experts to discuss the technical issues in detail acquire Plan-of-Actions (POAs) with consensus until issues are resolved.
  • Drive reliability improvement of system hardware diagnostics and software. Implement tool methodologies monitoring systems parameters to trigger corrective actions.
  • Generate documentation relevant for troubleshooting processes technical findings providing service and postmortem reports.
  • Help to define and optimize the Preventative Maintenance Schedule for systems of eBeam Demo lab. Be involved in hands-on work for integration of Alpha/Beta systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering Materials Science Engineering Physics Electrical Chemical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with handling any of the following equipment: Electron Microscopy (Scanning/Transmission) X-Ray based material characterization (XRD/EDX) Optical Microscopy scatterometry Molecular beam epitaxy or spectrometry equipment
  • Hands-on experience with operating equipment which uses Vacuum technology

Base Pay Range: $92400.00 - $157100.00 Annually
