There are 2 positions available within the MHST

Role 1: Located within the core MHST Team offering Low Intensity Mental Health Interventions for children and young people.

Applicants must have completed an HEE commissioned 1yr Education Mental Health Practitioner post graduate diploma AND/OR Successful completion of Certificate in Childrens Wellbeing Practice (CWP) with post qualification experience as a CWP and experience of working in schools.

PWPs: Certificate in Psychological Wellbeing Practice Level 6. Professional recognition must be to a standard that aligns with the The British Psychological Society for Level 6

About the Role

The Mental Health Support Team are recruiting for 2 Qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners Child Wellbeing Practitioners and Psychological wellbeing Practitioners with experience working within or closely with schools.

Role 1: Located within the core MHST Team offering Low Intensity Mental Health Interventions for children and young people.

Role 2: Located within the MHST Improving Attendance Team (MIAT) - Please see attached addendum for further information.

WHATMHST do

The Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) were established in Nottingham City in February 2020 providing an early intervention and preventative service for over 892 children and young people and their families so far. This includes providing support for anxiety low mood and behavioural difficulties as well as running workshops to groups of children within educational settings on themes such as transition resilience and wellbeing general wellbeing hacks worry and distractions and emotions through puberty.

Currently MHST are supporting children and young people in over 70 educational settings which will increase over the next 18 months to around 100 sites across the city. The expansion is being funded through 1.01m from NHS England and Health Education England as part of a national initiative.

We work in partnership with the school community and other wellbeing services to develop a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing building on what is being done already. We aim to achieve this goal through offering a range of services including:

  • Improving access to mental health support and services.
  • Delivering training and workshops for schools and parents
  • Providing consultation to schools on mental health and wellbeing
  • Individual and group interventions for children and young people experiencing difficulties with managing emotions
  • And more!

About You

A successful candidate must have:

  • a strong understanding of how to work with children and young people who have social emotional and/or behavioural difficulties
  • Knowledge of the educational system in England. Knowledge of children and young people gained through academic study in child development child wellbeing or mental health.
  • Successfully completed the HEE commissioned 1yr Education Mental Health Practitioner post graduate diploma AND/OR Successful completion of Certificate in Childrens Wellbeing Practice (CWP) with post qualification experience as a CWP and experience of working in schools.
  • Experience of working with children and young people their families and others in educational and health settings with mild to moderate mental health problems.
  • Experience of delivering specific therapeutic interventions to children young people or their families (e.g. Guided Self Help CBT parent work)
  • Experience of assessing and meeting the communication needs of the schools to deliver psycho-education on mental health or emotional wellbeing to different groups including parents teaching staff and young people.

-A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
