  • Danvers Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative educator to serve as the Middle School Choral Director & General Music Teacher. This full-time teaching position includes directing the 6th 7th and 8th grade chorusesoffered as part of the academic exploratory rotationand teaching multiple sections of general music classes at each grade level. The successful candidate will bring strong choral pedagogy a passion for music education and a commitment to working with middle school learners in both ensemble and classroom settings.Job Summary
  • Teach and conduct chorus classes for grades 68 within the exploratory rotation.
  • Conduct two concerts per year for each grade-level chorus including preparation and rehearsal planning.
  • Teach general music classes to grades 6 7 and 8 with age-appropriate curriculum.
  • Collaborate closely with the band director/general music teacher on general music curriculum and music department logistics (concert planning scheduling shared resources etc.).
  • Participate in common planning time with the 612 music faculty to support vertical alignment and program development.
  • Work collaboratively with the middle school exploratory team to support interdisciplinary planning scheduling and student engagement.
  • Foster a positive inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Communicate regularly with students families and staff regarding student progress and performance expectations.
  • Maintain accurate student records and complete required documentation for grading and full staff and performing arts department professional development to collaborate professionally within and outside the arts disciplines.
  • Engage in Social Emotional Learning and relationship building activities with students and staff during advisory blocks. Qualifications:
  • Valid Massachusetts DESE teaching license in Music.
  • Strong vocal/choral background and keyboard proficiency preferred.
  • Experience teaching middle school general music and ensemble classes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues families and students.
