Our confidential client is a well established industry leader specializing in the mechanical and electrical installation of automated storage and retrieval systems conveyor systems and high-density racking for the retail e-commerce logistics and grocery industries serving blue-chip clients that lead the world in automated warehouse logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Review all RFQ documents including project plans specifications and scope of work to understand all components of the client request. Develop a list of questions with the Account Manager which can be provided to the client for clarification.
- Be available for site visits (if needed) to assess conditions and identify potential challenges.
- Collaborate with sales and project management teams to prepare detailed installation estimates which includes allowances for tools equipment material and labour and any other related costs.
- Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers as needed.
- Use RFQ documents to develop a work breakdown structure (WBS) to be used to generate accurate proposals.
- Calculate labor material equipment and subcontractor costs using Zone 4 software and/or spreadsheets.
- Prepare comprehensive bid packages and present to the account manager which includes for all risks assumptions clarifications and exclusions.
- Track and update cost data for use in future estimates. Develop and maintain a library of past estimating data to be used for benchmarking in future proposals.
- Support project handoff meetings and provide ongoing support project bid as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in estimating conveyor system installations or similar mechanical/industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of mechanical installation methods materials and project workflows.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings plans and specifications.
- Proficiency with estimating and construction software such as Accubid Procore and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent analytical mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized. Strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to job sites.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelors degree in construction management engineering or related field preferred.
- Trade certification with a mechanical (Millwright) background is a benefit.
