ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)

Provides clinical assessment and quality care for Diagnostic Ultrasound procedures.

Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical pathological diagnostic information and images.

Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.

Communicates with the Radiologist any suspicious findings.

Coordinates work schedule with Departmental Director and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverage

Assumes responsibility for the safety mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographers care.

Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all practitioners referral or commercial agencies.

Performs all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by the referring practitioner.

Prepares preliminary reports and contacts referring physicians when required according to established protocols.

Assumes responsibility for the safety and well-being of all patients in the sonographic department.

Reports equipment failures to the Imaging Services Director.

Provides in-service education team on requirements of sonographic procedures as requested by other members of the health care team.

Follows current infection control procedures.

Participates in the accreditation process with the American College of Radiology.

Competency with PACS and EMR systems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Successful completion of a two-year program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. (Required)

Diagnostic Sonography with vascular experience (Required)

Echocardiography experience preferred

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS

National certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) (Required)

Current CPR certification.
