Position Overview

The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a motivated and skilled candidate to serve as the Corrections Supply Supervisor. The ideal candidate for this position will possess previous merchandise distribution experience and will be comfortable leading by exampleand providing instruction to the youth in our care. The incumbent in this position will have a working knowledge of storekeeping and warehousing methods and procedures and also have a working knowledge of inventory and other control methods and procedures. The candidate will comply with safety and sanitation procedures for all areas of the facility. Essential Functions

  • Performs inventory management duties to ensure accurate handling storage and distribution of merchandise and supplies.
  • Maintains accurate records and prepares reports to support inventory tracking and audit compliance.
  • Oversees inmate work assignments to ensure accurate inventory documentation and compliance with facility procedures.
  • Monitors operations to ensure compliance with safety sanitation and hazardous materials regulations.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the responsibilities outlined above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of high school or an approved training course.
  • Requires two years of experience in maintaining stores and store records.

Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)

  • Prefers one (1) year of working of experience in storekeeping and warehousing methods and procedures.
  • Prefers one (1) year of experience of inventory and other control methods and procedures.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requiresthe ability to pass an IDJJ/IDOC background screening.
  • Requires the ability to pass an IDJJ/IDOC drug screening.

About the Agency

The mission of the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ) is to build youth skills and strengthen families by promoting community safety and positive youth outcomes. Over 900 staff members from across various departmentssecurity programming education mental health and morecollaborate with the understanding that youth are physically emotionally and cognitively different from adults. The department provides extensive services to young people through a developmental treatment-focused model of care that builds youth resiliency engages families and promotes community safety at the five youth facilities it operates across the state. IDJJ serves and houses approximately 150 youth and is responsible for approximately 500 youth on Aftercare in various Illinois communities.
