Department Summary

Equal Opportunity & Regulatory Compliance is focused on ensuring compliance and access to the Universitys many programs and offerings. EORC partners with units across campus to ensure compliance with Title VI VII and IX the Americans with Disabilities Act the Clery Act and multiple state and federal laws and regulations related to equal opportunity compliance. The Programs Serving Minors (Compliance Specialist) regularly partners with EORC colleagues to fulfill the Universitys mission and serves as a key part of this team.

Role Summary

Serves as the primary contact for a specific compliance program. Creates and classifies reports in support of a specific compliance program assists leadership in regulatory report creation coordinates communication issuance and assists with the development and implementation of institution-wide policies to ensure compliance with institutional policies and/or laws and regulations.

The Compliance Specialist: Programs Serving Minors manages compliance for University of Mississippi programs involving minors. The Compliance Specialist maintains the policy relevant training and serves as a key campus contact when there are concerns involving programs serving minors. The role would include offering training to relevant campus partners and students assisting in investigations and resolution processes and offering support to program directors who are facilitating programs at UM.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Collaborate with campus partners including Title IX Athletics Outreach HR and UPD to ensure consistency in messaging and training
  • Maintain an inventory of UM youth programs and activities
  • Compile reports for UM administrators and stakeholders regarding UM youth programs
  • Establish audit protocols and conduct checks and reviews of UM youth programs to assess compliance
  • Stay abreast of changes in higher education programs and services for minors by attending conferences and reviewing current literature in order to update policy and procedures
  • Consult with campus partners to assist those serving minors with the development of programs that comply with UM policies
  • Act as an internal consultant to youth program directors with regard to review of program policies and procedures
  • Develop and present trainings for Authorized Adults and/or participants in programs relevant to the youth protection programs

Essential Functions

These essential functions include but are not limited to the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Collects compiles and organizes reports for a defined compliance program and communicates data to internal and external stakeholders when appropriate.
2. Assists leadership with developing and publishing compliance reports and policies in accordance with established laws and regulations.
3. Audits and serves as a subject matter expert and point of contact to potentially affected units and affiliated organizations ensuring appropriate communications are issued relating to compliance.
4. Collaborates with other institutional compliance subject matter experts to review procedures and make change recommendations to leadership.
5. Creates delivers and monitors records of training programs.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelors Degree

Experience:(3) Three Years Experience

Substitution Statement: An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Degree in relevant area; specific experience working with minors managing a compliance program working with policies engaging in public speaking/training efforts or similar related work.
