About Us

Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency (NSPHA) is the provincial government agency responsible for the administration and delivery of affordable housing solutions for low-income Nova Scotians.

We contribute to the prosperity of Nova Scotia by helping individuals and families find a home thats right for them at a price they can afford in a healthy and vibrant community that offers the services support and opportunities they need.

We accomplish this by working closely with other levels of government as well as private and community partners. Across its districts NSPHA provides more than 11200 safe affordable homes as part of its Housing Services to seniors and families. District offices manage the day-to-day operations of Nova Scotias housing stock. Their responsibilities include administering tenant applications and placements collecting rent resolving tenant issues and maintaining and repairing properties.


About Our Opportunity


The Coordinator Building Projects is responsible for the planning and delivery of residential renovation and construction projects varying in scale and complexity. As the Coordinator you ensure all projects are completed in accordance with NSPHA standards government policies and the applicable regulatory framework. You will deliver multiple projects concurrently ensuring program objectives are achieved. You will draw on your broad base of knowledge and skills grounded in sustainable building design building science cost planning and job forecasting and project control enhanced by an understanding of procurement processes construction contract law and construction safety.


Primary Accountabilities

  • In collaboration with the Manager Building Services and key stakeholders assist in identifying project initiation documents that define project requirements scopetimeframes governance risk assessments communication plans schedule and budget for procurement and project management purposes.
  • Lead the preparation of complete drawing and specification sets that fully and accurately define the technical requirements for projects by collaborating or coordinating activities with design staff consultants or by relying on own technical qualifications and design experience.
  • Coordinate with procurement staff to create comprehensive tender packages and then support project tender and award processes.
  • Manage projects from concept development through close out and warranty period you ensure that cost quality and schedule objectives are met ensuring proper administration of contracts statutory obligations and regulatory requirements.

What youll need

Qualifications

  • Related post-secondary education such as Construction Management Technology Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology plus five years of project management experience in the construction field.
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of procurement processes legal jurisprudence governing construction contracts and contracting.
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings blueprints specifications and contracts.
  • Possess a valid Nova Scotia drivers license with access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes.

Assets

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Project Management training.

Competencies required at this level of work are Innovation Effective Interactive Communications Partnering and Relationship Building and Action Oriented.

Salary Range: $37.21 to $45.31 hourly
Work Week: 35 hours
