Job Description

Job Summary: Provides academic instruction and student academic support for the Math & Computer Science department. Performs tasks designed to ensure the quality and consistency of academic instruction including governance activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

A masters degree in mathematics or a related field* with at least 18 graduate credits in mathematics including courses in these areas: algebra/group theory/logic (such as abstract algebra or topology) and analysis (such as real analysis or complex analysis or functional analysis or probability measure theory); Math-related degrees include Mathematics Education Computer Science Statistics Physics Engineering.
*Or a combination of experience and education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Hiring Range:$40170 - $53970

Preferred Qualifications: Previous teaching experience in higher education

Job Specific Task List:

  • Teaches assigned Mathematic courses. - (Standard)
  • Participates in curriculum development and maintenance. - (Standard)
  • Provides academic support and advising to students including establishing and maintaining a schedule of office hours. - (Standard)
  • Participates in college governance by serving on joint ad hoc faculty campus division and discipline committees. - (Standard)
  • Participates in the recruitment and hiring of new faculty through participation on assigned search committees. - (Standard)
  • Participates in college and community service activities. - (Standard)
  • Participates in professional growth activities and maintains awareness of new trends and developments within areas of instructional responsibility. - (Standard)
  • Coordinate plan organize and instruct academic courses according to approved course syllabus. - (Essential)
  • Provide high quality and consistent academic instruction to students. - (Essential)
  • Keep students informed and updated concerning course content requirements evaluation procedures and attendance requirements. - (Essential)
  • Maintain accurate and complete scholastic records including attendance records. - (Essential)
  • Maintain scheduled office hours. - (Essential)
  • Ensure that assigned classes are held as scheduled. - (Essential)
  • Organize and maintain class work and assignments. - (Essential)
  • Strive for the qualities delineated in the criteria for faculty evaluation used by the college. - (Essential)
  • Be thoroughly familiar and comply with all college policies and procedures. - (Essential)
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. - (Essential)
  • Work in a professional collegial and team-oriented manner. - (Essential)
