We are seeking Mam Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Mam is a rare Mayan language of Guatemala often required for asylum and immigration interviews making this role critical to mission success.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time Mam English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews hearings and official proceedings.
Interpret with accuracy impartiality and confidentiality in immigration and legal contexts.
Adhere to USCIS/DHS compliance standards and interpreter ethics.
Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
Participate in training compliance refreshers and QA audits.

Qualifications

Native or near-native fluency in Mam and English.
2 years of interpreting experience (immigration community or government preferred).
Familiarity with interpreter ethics confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.
Strong telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
