Position Summary
The Director of Strategic Initiatives serves as a civic leader and senior representative of Texas Wesleyan University cultivating and maintaining strong partnerships with government agencies corporations foundations and community organizations. Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement this individual is responsible for securing strategic resources working closely with the Director of Foundation Relations to secure and manage external grant programs ensuring compliance with applicable regulations in partnership with the Director of Grant Accounting and collaborating with the Presidents Cabinet to advance institutional priorities. The Director will be an experienced professional with strong civic engagement skills proven success in building cross-sector partnerships and the ability to translate university initiatives into compelling proposals that attract external support.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
1. Relationship Building: Corporate and Civic Engagement 30% Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with elected officials government agencies civic organizations and other key collaboration with senior university officials identify and pursue opportunities to enhance the Universitys presence and influence with federal state and local entities. Serve as a visible ambassador for the University at civic business and governmental events. 2. Funding Strategy & Resource Development 25% Identify research and implement strategies to cultivate financial support from private/corporate foundations as well as federal state and local funding sources. Monitor trends in philanthropic and governmental funding to align University initiatives with funder priorities. Develop tailored cultivation strategies for funders in partnership with Advancement leadership. 3. Strategic Collaboration with External Partners 20% Collaborate with the President to define goals objectives scope feasibility and funding requirements for strategic initiatives. Provide guidance and partnership in developing new academic programmatic or community initiatives requiring external support. Ensure that all external initiatives align with University policies and strategic priorities. 4. Grant & Program Development 15% Contribute to the writing editing and proofreading of external grant and project proposals reports and supporting documents. Partner with the Director of Foundation Relations to coordinate the preparation assembly and delivery of proposal submissions to corporate foundation and government funders. Working with the Director of Grant Accounting support an organized system for deadlines compliance requirements and reporting. 5. Event Engagement & Donor/Partner Cultivation 10% Represent the University at meetings conferences and events including evenings weekends and occasional out-of-town travel. Assist with donor and partner cultivation efforts by hosting and attending university events hosting visitors and engaging prospects.
