We are seeking Hmong Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Hmong is a rare language of critical need in immigration and asylum cases making this role essential to ensuring applicants have equitable access to services.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Hmong English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews hearings and official proceedings.
- Deliver interpretation with accuracy impartiality and cultural sensitivity.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in line with USCIS/DHS standards.
- Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge calls.
- Participate in training compliance refreshers and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Hmong and English.
- 2 years of professional interpreting experience (immigration community medical or legal preferred).
- Familiarity with interpreter ethics confidentiality and cultural awareness.
- Strong communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
