Job Description

The Carbon Markets Academy of Singapore (CMAS) aspires to be Asias pre-eminent education partner for the Carbon Services and Trading Sector. As a joint initiative between Enterprise Singapore the Singapore Economic Development Board and Nanyang Technological University CMAS also seeks to actively support Singapores objective of becoming a Carbon Services and Trading Hub for the region.

As part of these efforts it is looking for a Senior Assistant Director who will play a leadership role in the ongoing establishment and operations of the Academy. Reporting to the Centre Director this role has overall accountability for Strategic Management of CMAS key priorities; Governance Requirements; Financial Management and will ultimately drive the delivery of CMAS operational plans in collaboration with the full range of internal and external stakeholders including Government agencies Corporate Partners and other Institutions.

The role also offers an exciting opportunity to engage with and build a network within the Carbon Services and Trading Sector both in Singapore and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Governance: Accountability for delivery of CMAS strategic vision and operational plan including the preparation of the annual work programme and budget; compliance with reporting requirements and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Financial Management: Establishing a road-map towards financial sustainability and providing day-to-day leadership in delivering against the road-map including engaging with a wide range of stakeholders such as donors and partners.

  • Operational Excellence: Accountability for operational excellence in the execution of CMAS initiatives across its programmes events and marketing campaigns. Establish and leverage key stakeholder relationships (both internal and external) whilst harnessing CMAS resources and the wider NTU capabilities so as to delivery effectively.

The candidate should have / be:

  • A good bachelors degree and proven high quality academic achievements.

  • At least 12-15 years of work experience with extensive experience in strategic planning; team management; senior stakeholder engagement and partnership building.

  • Strong in strategic thinking planning and possessing an analytical mind.

  • Confident and proactive with demonstrated dynamism and resourcefulness in problem solving.

  • Ability to proactively identify and prioritize tasks and be able to escalate matters of significance while retaining responsibility for them.

  • Ability to work with people of various levels and cultures with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build industrial partnerships and business development skills.

  • Demonstrated capability to plan for and supervise execution of programmes; events; and marketing campaigns.

  • Ability to identify gaps implement improvements and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

  • High Integrity; Strong Proactivity; Nurturing Leader

  • The following would be advantageous:

    • Prior planning / management experience in an Autonomous University setup

    • Established senior connections and networks in the Sustainability sector will be advantageous.
