This role is based in our Bugis Junction Tower office.
The Senior Payroll & HR Consultant Modern Award role takes ownership of Modern Award administrative duties payment processing and compliance requirements while working closely with our HR Business Partners and Employment Counsel team. The successful candidate will also manage payroll operations across multiple APAC jurisdictions ensuring adherence to diverse local regulations while providing leadership to the payroll team and project delivery support where required.
This strategic role requires vendor management capabilities and the ability to drive process improvements across our regional operations. The ideal candidate will bring proven payroll experience understanding of Modern Award frameworks and a passion for operational excellence in a fast-paced multi-jurisdictional environment.
Regulatory Compliance Modern Award Management
- Regulation Monitoring: Stay current with key regulatory changes and award decisions seeking guidance from HR Business Partners and Employment Counsel on compliance applications
- Contract Management: Collaborate with HR Business Partners and Legal Counsel to ensure all Award-covered contracts and addendum letters maintain current compliance standards
- Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate tracking systems for all current and former Award-covered colleagues including relevant award classifications and specific details
Time & Attendance Administration
- Timesheet Management: Draft and distribute monthly timesheets for Award-covered employees ensuring manager signatures and adherence to submission deadlines
- Overtime Calculations: Review timesheets against Award overtime requirements calculate monthly overtime entitlements and coordinate TOIL agreements or payment processing
- TOIL Administration: Maintain comprehensive TOIL records tracking accrual and usage dates to ensure ongoing compliance
- Process Standardization: Work with HR Business Partners to map and standardize time and attendance processes across the division
Financial Reconciliation & Compliance
- Annual Reconciliation: Conduct 12-month anniversary reviews of annualized contract employees payments against Award entitlements
- Leaver Processing: Ensure final payment rectifications are completed within 7 days of an employees final day
- Payment Accuracy: Verify all payments align with Award requirements and statutory obligations
Process Development & Improvement
- Documentation: Identify gaps and develop comprehensive process mapping and SOP guidelines for Modern Awards
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on Australian Modern Awards regulations and apply knowledge to enhance HR processes and initiatives
- Tool Implementation: Deploy process improvements and timesheet management tools as required
Payroll Operations & Multi-Country Compliance
- Payroll Administration: Manage both in-house and outsourced payroll processes across multiple APAC countries
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure accuracy compliance and timeliness of all statutory calculations reconciliations and submissions
- Regulatory Adherence: Maintain compliance with diverse regulatory requirements across APAC jurisdictions
Collaboration & Project Support
- Project Delivery: Assist in HR initiatives both independently and in partnership with HR Business Partners and APAC HRSSO & Payroll teams
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as primary contact between HRSSO APAC and stakeholders demonstrating professionalism while challenging assumptions and driving solutions
- Administrative Support: Partner with APAC HRSSO team on operational and administrative matters as needed
Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide guidance support and mentorship to junior payroll consultants
- Assist in leading the payroll team in the absence of Payroll Lead/Head of HRSSO & Payroll
- Ensure knowledge transfer and development of team members expertise in payroll processes and regulations
- Support planning and execution of payroll-related project milestones
Qualifications :
- Have a minimum of 3 years of HR operation admin and Payroll support experience.
- Possess multi-tasking and prioritization skills; meticulous and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant business and/or industry experience across payroll processing and reporting
- A reliable dedicated committed and service-oriented team player who has a strong orientation toward teamwork.
- Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills to work with diverse range of stakeholders.
- Exposure to Microsoft applications SAP & Oracle system is highly desirable.
- Fluent in both Mandarin and English.
- Familiar with local employment law & practice is highly desirable.
