About this Opportunity
Giant Tiger Wholesale is looking to hire a temporary Cell Operator for our brand-new fully automated 660000 square foot distribution centre in Johnstown ON! GTW can offer paid material handling equipment training full medical/dental benefits a store discount and 24/7 onsite gym access.

This is a Temporary Position with an end date of Dec 28th 2025 with the possibility of extension.

- Starting wage of $19.43/hour!
- Additional $2/hour for hours worked 9:00pm - 6:00am

Job Highlights:
- Perform pre-production checks on automated adapters ensuring equipment is in ready to run state.
- Process andmonitorthe flow of the automated storage and retrieval system through means of the adapters including manual inbound automatic inbound automatic outbound to achievemaximumthroughput and cases per hour.
- Prepare pallets for induction into theroboticstorage and retrieval system.
- Assess cause of system stoppage and return to service using Human/Machine Interface (HMI) and manual intervention.
- Communicate and escalate all issuesimpactingproductionimmediatelyto operational leadership.
- Contribute to overall system uptime through system preservation robot recovery suspect removal and bot health actions.
- Perform periodic system inspections including cleaning lubrication tolerance checkingcomponentvalidation.
- Report all out of spec conditions and perform root cause corrective action andmaintaincontinuous operation of system components.
- Monitor andutilizecommon radio etiquette while obtaining instructions from leadership and operational leads.
- Perform rover bot upkeep to include but not limited to replacing wheels cleaning ESD brushes sensors etc.
- Responsible for automated robotic vehicle recovery in theroboticstorage and retrieval system including working in restrictive environments.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Job Requirements:
- Be proficient in performing all System Inspection functionsincludingcleaning lubrication making adjustments.
- Ability to prioritize work to gainmaximumuptime and throughput from an automated cell.
- Demonstrates commitment and ability to work safely.
- Ability to work independently of supervisor following procedures and manuals.
- Ability tomulti-taskand perform multiple job functions at once.
Work Environment:
- You willbe requiredto wear proper PPE (hard hat cut resistant gloves and sleeves steel toe boots eyeglasses ear protection fall protection (e.g. safety harness)).
- You will need the frequent ability tosafely and efficiently lift items weighingup to 50lbs and move items weighing up to 80lbs.
- You will be required to stand/walk for up to 12 hours andfrequentlyrequiredto reach with hands and arms.
- Must be capable of occasional and/or continuous feeling seeing hearing bending twisting stooping pushing pulling balancing gripping climbing crawling sitting handling objects and repetitive movement using both hands and feet.
- Mustcomply withall safety requirements and protocols including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.
Cell Operator Job Schedule:
- Rotating 12-hour shifts:
Sample shift schedule:
- Week 1 6:30am to 7:00pm Monday Tuesday Friday Saturday
- Week 2 6:30am to 7:00pm Sunday Wednesday Thursday
- Week 3 6:30pm to 7:00am Monday Tuesday Friday Saturday
- Week 4 6:30pm to 7:00am Sunday Wednesday Thursday
