Available opportunities include: Casual; Day/Evening/Weekend shifts
What youll be doing:
Plan implement evaluate develop and revise both individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs under the guidance of the Supervisor.
Set up and clean activity area as necessary and transport residents to and from programs.
Monitor the behaviour and condition of residents during programs and report any significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff as appropriate.
Maintain program and resident records according to department policy. Communicate participation by residents to registered staff.
What you bring:
Must have a post-secondary diploma or degree from an accredited community college or university in recreation leisure or activation studies or therapeutic recreation OR a degree or diploma in Social Service Worker in Gerontology ; Music Therapy; or Gerontology that includes at least 3 courses in recreation leisure or therapeutic recreation or a diploma in kinesiology or other related field.
Experience providing recreation program planning and implementation with seniors with physical and cognitive impairment is considered an asset.
An energetic compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
Demonstration of oral and written communication skills.
Ability to problem solve.
Demonstration of planning and creative abilities.
Membership in Recreation Professionals of Ontario or Therapeutic Recreation Ontario is preferred.
