Special School District (SSD) teacher assistants also known as paraprofessionals support students and teachers in special education classrooms throughout St. Louis County. Through your diligent care supervision and encouragement you will serve as a valued member of an educational team focused on ensuring students have what they need to thrive and feel empowered.

In this support role you will work with students who are deaf/hard of hearing. You will receive exclusive professional development and growth opportunities to gain skills and experience in core educational specialties. Teacher assistants work during school hours Monday through Friday. The start and end times may vary depending on the building assignment. We are currently seeking an assistant to serve in the following location(s):

Salary

$22.00 to $38.00/hr. based on education and experience

Education & Experience

Thirty-six hours of college creditwith supporting transcriptsorcompletion of theFrontline Substitute Teacher Trainingas approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred
Experience working with young children (ages 3-5) preferred
Proficiency in ASL preferred

Certificates Licenses Registrations

Substitute Certification required
