POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Wilkes-Barre is seeking a one-year full-time staff appointment to serve as the Assistant to the Regional Chancellor and Director of Academic Affairs. The Assistant reports directly to the Regional Chancellor and provides direct support to the Director of Academic Affairs (DAA) who serves as the campus Chief Academic Officer. The positions primary responsibility is to manage and ensure efficient execution of the objectives of the Chancellor and the Academic Affairs position assists in maintaining positive relationships with internal and external constituents facilitates office initiatives of the Regional Chancellor and DAA and promotes collaboration with campus faculty staff and students

The Penn State Wilkes Barre Chancellor and Academic Affairs offices oversee the campuss fourteen academic programs and is responsible for campus academic services including the Academic Advising Disability Services Learning Services and Registrar this position the selected candidate primarily will:

  • Coordinate calendar pertinent databases confidential files and systems
  • Manage internal and external office communications
  • Manage office budget expenditures and budget data
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for the Regional Chancellor and DAA
  • Oversee the faculty promotion and tenure processes
  • Manage the annual faculty performance process
  • Coordinate the full-time faculty search and hiring process

The selected candidate will be expected to communicate and collaborate with administrative units across the university including the Office of the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses university Chancellor and DAA assistants and university academic program and discipline coordinators.

A demonstrated ability to work with faculty staff students and managing assigned projects are essential. The successful candidate should have the ability to multi-task and demonstrate a proven record of working effectively in a team environment have experience with handling standard office procedures and learn job-related software tools. Competencies critical to success are problem-solving professionalism budgeting a basic understanding of business finance information systems flexibility excellent interpersonal and communication skills organizational strength and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word Outlook Excel and PowerPoint is required and an understanding of SAP Concur Workday PeopleSoft information systems and SIMBA financial systems is important to success in the position.

MINIMUM EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Associate Degree 4 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position including all possible grades is $51000.00 - $74000.00.
