Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Description

Job Overview
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by utilizing specialized imaging techniques to diagnose and treat various medical conditions. This position involves the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals conducting diagnostic imaging procedures and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nuclear medicine medical imaging and patient care.

Duties

  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Conduct DEXA scans and PET scans to assess bone density and metabolic activity.
  • Collaborate with physicians to evaluate diagnostic images and provide accurate reports.
  • Maintain a sterile environment using aseptic techniques during procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations related to radiation exposure.
  • Educate patients about procedures addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Perform routine maintenance on imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Document patient information imaging results and any relevant medical history accurately.

Skills

CNMT Certification

  • Proficient in nuclear medicine techniques and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic evaluation methods in medical imaging.
  • Understanding of physiology as it relates to nuclear medicine practices.
  • Ability to perform DEXA scans and PET scans effectively.
  • Competence in aseptic technique to maintain patient safety during procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Attention to detail for accurate documentation and image analysis. This position is essential for providing high-quality patient care through advanced diagnostic techniques.
