Job Description
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist the Head Athletic Trainer in the prevention ongoing assessment acute care treatment and management of athletic injuries and conditions of student athletes to restore needed levels of function for participation in athletic competition activities of daily living and vocational activities using knowledge and modern principles of athletic training.
Responsibilities:
Assists with the prevention evaluation treatment and rehabilitation of injured student-athletes.
Assists in the coordination of physician appointments referred care and rehabilitation for all student-athletes.
Assists with coordination of written and verbal follow-ups to Head Coaches regarding student-athlete medical care.
Serves as Liaison between the team physicians and Head Coaches.
Assists with the practice/game preparation and coverage for the athletic teams.
Travels with assigned teams as needed.
Assists with the coordination and scheduling of game and practice coverage (home and away).
Assists with maintaining and reviewing policies and procedures.
Assist the department with organizing and distributing supplies.
Assists with the medical treatment rehabilitation physician and prescription records for all student-athletes.
Assists with other assigned administrative duties.
Required Education and Experience:
Preferred Education and Experience:
At least a Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) in Texas.
Two (2) years of progressive experience in sports medicine.
Board of Certification (BOC).
One (1) year working within an intercollegiate athletic department.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
First aid CPR AED certified.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a multicultural community.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
Ability to gather data compile information and prepare reports.
Knowledge of drug testing procedures and programs.
Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
Ability to use independent judgment and to gather manage and impart information to individual student-athletes coaches sport teams and administrative personnel within the university community.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to work effectively with a multicultural populations.
Knowledge of medical and first aid skills including joint taping and physical therapy skills.
Compliance with all NAIA. RRAC NATA system and university rules and regulations are required in this position.
