Group 1 seeks to hire a Director - Environmental Health and Safety. The position reports to the Vice President and Corporate Controller.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position primarily include:
- Strategic Leadership Translate corporate EHS vision into a multi-year roadmap with annual goals budgets and KPIs.
- Culture & Training Drive a zero-incident culture with high standards of accountability.
- Program Design & Execution Establish and lead robust health and safety programs tailored to automotive retail operations.
- Team Management Lead Regional Safety Managers plus dealership coordinators; steward the EHS budget.
- Ensure regulatory compliance (OSHA state/local) and lead relationships with regulatory bodies.
- Maintain permits documentation and compliance with federal state and local environmental requirements.
- Proactively identify emerging risks (safety operational environmental reputational) and design mitigation strategies.
- Build structured incident response processes and reporting pipelines.
- Metrics & Analytics Track TRIR LTIR vehicleincident rate and environmental KPIs; develop and publish a monthly dashboard.
- Implement Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) safety audits safety training accident reporting and corrective actions across all operations.
- CrossFunctional Partnership Work with Risk & Insurance HR Legal Operations Marketing Internal Audit OEM partners etc
- Manage relationship with KPA third-party EHS partner.
- ESG & Public Disclosures Support ESG reporting and Board updates.
- Emergency Preparedness Key contributor to crisismanagement plans and businesscontinuity drills.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors in Occupational Safety Environmental Science Engineering or related field (Masters preferred).
- 10 years progressive EHS leadership; 5 years multisite operations experience.
- CSP CIH CHMM certifications strongly preferred; OSHA 30Hour minimum.
- Proven success lowering TRIR/LTIR and driving cultural change.
- Expert knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926 RCRA EPCRA DOT hazmat rules and state equivalents.
- Strong analytical and executivelevel communication skills; ability to travel 3040%.
