For over 80 years ROMKids Camp has been one of Torontos most creative exciting and diverse day camps. ROMKids offers a variety of hands-on experiential and engaging groups inspired by the collections and research of our world-class museum. As a ROMKids Studio Instructor you will play a key role in developing and presenting engaging and inclusive lessons ensuring a safe and enjoyable educational experience for children and contributing to the Museums mission of fostering lifelong interest in art nature and culture.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Develop and plan course content based on provided descriptions and direction.
- Produce course plan documents outlining all lessons learning goals and themed activities.
- Ensure lessons and activities are designed in accordance with 21st-century learning strategies and global competencies.
- Develop and present engaging inclusive lessons that center DEAI (diversity equity accessibility inclusion).
- Adapt to various campers learning styles and provide necessary accessibility supports.
- Provide well-written daily descriptions for caregivers.
- Follow proper procedures and protocols for daily schedules routines and camper care.
- Manage childrens behavior ensuring a safe enjoyable and educational experience for each camper.
- Incorporate inquiry-based (Socratic) and experiential learning techniques using specimens artifacts and objects.
- Supervise and direct assigned assistants providing feedback as necessary.
- Act as an additional contact for caregivers and report any serious concerns.
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent in a museum-related discipline (e.g. art culture history and/or nature) or a relevant education-related degree (e.g. Early Childhood Education Bachelor of Education).
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with children in an educational or camp setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong conflict resolution skills.
- Proven ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.
- Formal teaching qualifications and First Aid/CPR certification are assets.
- Experience or education in one or more of the following areas is considered an asset: film/video production photography ceramics leadership training storytelling environmental education illustration tabletop gaming.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Each applicant must be prepared to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening specific to individuals who work with children or vulnerable persons.
- Applicants must confirm their availability to attend a mandatory orientation in October 2025.
SALARY & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- START DATE: October 2025

- STATUS: Part-time contract
- EMPLOYEE GROUP: OPSEU Local 543
- SALARY: $35.15 - $40.19
- SCHEDULE: Up to 24 hours weekly
- PROBATIONARY PERIOD: up to 420 hours
- LOCATION (onsite): Toronto ON
