Team Overview
This position requires hands on knowledge of Linux operating systems server technologies automation & cloud platforms. Should have a basic knowledge of industry hardware types and interoperability. Should have a basic understanding of application software.
Person in this role must be able to work with other system engineers in their team location & global locations.
The person may also be called upon to work with other team colleagues regarding
builds updates testing and sharing results.
provide operational support for legacy current and emerging technologies.
The global Aladdin Engineering SysOps UNIX team is a sizable team of over 50 individuals located in six different regions that support a highly available UNIX environment hosted on prem & on cloud.
This role primarily involves weekday work but flexibility to work weekends is as needed.
Role Responsibility
Successful performance in this role requires an individual be able to perform these duties above a satisfactory level. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge skill and competencies .
System operations between cloud and on-premises IT UNIX infrastructure
Engineer administer and support services and products deploy to Azure or AWS platform.
Assist with the development of automated tools / scripts for use across the enterprise.
Analytics and reporting using Cloud Native tools
Responsible for the OS support for 12000 hosts located globally running RedHat Enterprise Linux
Review dashboards & reports for new & the rollout status of existing vulnerabilities.
Role may also include
Server builds monitoring configuration and ongoing maintenance of servers.
Perform system administration duties across the environment to provide support services for customer.
Maintain server availability for all sites and periodically participate in DR exercises.
Must have good problem solving teamwork communication and customer service skills.
Resolve help desk escalations and process items in a ticket queue.
There are no after-hours on call requirements but the individual should remain flexible for critical situations.
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues and provide operations support for bridge calls.
Participate in the development and implementation of UNIX related projects.
Monitor servers and remediate alerts that get raised.
Follow documented processes and procedures is critical.
Good clear communication is an absolute must.
Experience
Extensive knowledge ofRHEL.
Proven experience inCloud Environments with a preference forAzure though AWS or Google Cloud knowledge is also valuable.
Knowledge withKubernetes/containersis necessary.
Strong proficiency incoding/scriptingis essential particularly withPythonGo Perl orJava.
Familiarity withmodern DevOps / CI/CDandSRE principles/techniquesis .
Proven ability inBuild/Kickstart/Deployprocesses & configuration management like Puppet/Ansible.
Expertise inVolume Management and Clustering: LVM VxFS VCS & VVR.
Understanding ofserver hardwarefrom vendors such as HPE and Dell.
Knowledge of network services such asTCP/IPNFSDNSLDAPFTPNTPSambaAutofs.
Skills insecurity and performance monitoring and analysis.
Conceptual understanding ofstorage and networking components.

Bachelors degree preferably in Computer Science or Information Technology
