Collaborates with the supervisor to lead the accessioning and billing teams of The Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM). Coordinates and assists with the accessioning of patient orders and samples and the verification of billing and patient information.
Essential Functions:- Performs sample and order receipt and accessioning practicing follow-up and documentation procedure. Verifies patient and billing information prior to sign-out.
- Assists in the instruction and assessment of Accessing staff and facilitates the training of Accessioners on implementation of new CPT codes new tests and changes to requisitions. Answers staff questions regarding billing. Promotes a cooperative supportive and productive team environment.
- Manages assigned projects. Predicts and avoids problems using information from quality control checks.
- Collaborates with the supervisor and manager to maintain technical and procedural operations. Researches develops and implements new or improved procedures and instrumentation.
- Provides efficient and effective customer service ensuring customer satisfaction and quality patient care.
- Maintains knowledge of current federal state and local laws and regulations concerning laboratory reporting and billing requirements including yearly updates.
