Job Summary

NEEDED: NURSE PRACTITIONER

LOCATION:

  • Telework (Remote)
  • With onsite work at CNRC Headquarters as needed (Millington TN)

SCHEDULE: Monday Friday work week though weekend and holiday work may be authorized to meet mission requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Graduation from an accredited medical school PA program (ARCPA) or nursing school (NLNAC/CCNE).
  • Current unrestricted state license (physician PA or NP) and board certification as applicable.
  • Ability to obtain appropriate security clearance in order to maintain access to DoD
  • Preferred - Military medical experience
  • Preferred - Prior experience in duty status or waiver case review within the Navy or Marine Corps.
  • Personnel may be Licensed Physicians Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners and shall fulfill the role of Secondary Reviewer (SR).

JOB DUTIES: Secondary Reviewer (SR)

  • Review medical accession for enlistment or commissioning program entry or retention cases and other medical qualification reviews as assigned.
  • Provide clinical recommendations based on those reviews.
  • Ensure all applicants meet physical and mental standards to perform required duties support Navy operational readiness and be worldwide deployable.
  • Evaluation of medical documentation for both enlisted and officer applicants determination of compliance with DoD and Department of the Navy (DON) medical standards.
  • Preparation of formal recommendations to CNRC for final waiver determinations.
  • Similar review processes may also be required for Fleet Programs special duty designations and reconsideration or appeal cases.
  • Secondary Reviewer (SR) will not be conducting physical exams or directly interacting with applicants the review includes a chart review of the physical exam conducted by MEPS the military treatment facility or an appropriate civilian provider as well as historical medical and support documents for each applicant.
  • Shall review all documentation submitted with waiver requests.

WORKLOAD STANDARDS

  • Case volume will vary based on recruiting mission requirements. The Secondary Reviewer (SR) shall provide sufficient flexibility to meet surges in workload.
  • Once fully trained SRs are expected to review and make recommendations for a minimum of at least three (3) cases per hour recognizing that complexity completeness of documentation and technology factors may affect throughput.
  • Each SR shall review an average of 24 50 medical waiver cases per day.
  • Additionally cases should be worked on in the order in which they were submitted unless specific guidance from the Director is given to do otherwise.
  • Case complexity can be assessed based on type and volume of disqualifying conditions:
  • Reviewers should be able to complete Tier 1 cases in less than 10 minutes Tier 2 cases should take 10-15 minutes and Tier 3 cases should be completed in 15-25 minutes. Additional time may be needed in rare cases; however the average should meet these timelines.

TIMELINES STANDARDS:

All case reviews shall meet the following timeliness requirements unless system outages or other approved exceptions occur:

  • Urgent same day if submitted prior to 3:30 PM CST
  • Expedited within 1 hour if submitted prior to 3:30 PM CST
  • Special Duty within 2 business days
  • Reconsideration within 3 business days of submission of new documentation
  • Routine within 2 business days of receipt in SR queue

TRAINING:

  • Initial Training: New personnel shall complete initial program training and command indoctrination (37 days) either in person at CNRC Headquarters or virtually if necessary.
  • Mentored Onboarding: New personnel will have all cases reviewed by a designated training lead for at least three (3) weeks posttraining or until released for independent work.
  • Refresher Training: Returning personnel shall complete a oneday refresher at contract start.
  • Ongoing Training & Meetings: All personnel shall attend periodic training sessions weekly staff meetings and an annual team training event (up to 5 business days; travel funded).
  • Mandatory Annual Training: All required annual trainings (e.g. HIPAA PII Cyber Awareness) shall be completed as specified in the CNRC Annual Training Plan.
