What Youll Do:
No ag background no problem! Youll learn all about agriculture from our top-notch experts who dedicate their lives to a cleaner safer better Ohio. The Animal Health Division is seeking applicants for a Certification/Licensure Examiner 2. The position is responsible for:
Reviews applications & supplemental documents for completeness accuracy & compliance before issuance of registration/permits/license renewal/reinstatement procedures (e.g. interstate Certificates of Veterinary Inspection (lCVl) & Owner Shipper Statements (OSS))
Performs clerical tasks to support permitees/licensees/registrants and the programs; maintains records in accordance with programs procedures
Processes permit/license/registration fees
Answers routine questions regarding permitting/licensing/registration and the programs; mails out permit/license/registration renewal notices
Logs facility statistical & inspection information (e.g. inspection reports notice of violations correspondence) & distributes correspondence to field employees regarding inspection and other program issues
Provides information & assistance to general public & permitees/licensees/registrants to aid in processing permit/license/registration applications
Answers telephone inquiries concerning permitting/licensure/registration process laws & regulations and general inquires
Gathers & analyzes information & completes reports as asked by supervisor
Operates personal computer/word processor scanner printer and fax for compiling information and rosters or appropriate permits/licenses/registration for distribution to permitees/licensees/registrants
Determines when application needs special follow-up or investigation & makes recommendations to appropriate division staff (e.g. division managers)
Processes documents for completeness accuracy & compliance with applicable laws rules
Identifies problems notes errors or discrepancies & initiates corrective action
Disapproves import/export lCVls not in compliance with applicable laws & rules & reports approval/disapproval status to US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health lnspection Service (APHIS) Veterinary Service (VS) issuing practitioner & State Veterinarian
Responds to correspondence by phone or electronically from veterinarians producers & markets regarding Ohios animal importation requirements
Enters information (e.g. import/export lCVls) into searchable database to enhance animal traceability efforts in Ohio
Scans import/export lCVls for electronic filing and uploads all electronic ICVIs or ICVIs into USAHerds data base
This position shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the OCSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. ODA bargaining unit members have selection rights before non-bargaining unit members. All other applications will only be considered if an internal bargaining unit applicant is not selected for this position.
