Public Health Apprentice 8880 Fixed Term Contract for 3 Years 31537 to 33699 per annum (Scale G) 37 hours per week County Hall Norwich

Were offering an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about public health and wellbeing to joinNorfolk County Councils Public Health Teamas aPublic Health Apprentice.

This fully funded three-yearearn as you learnapprenticeship combines academic study with practical experience in public health. The Apprentice will work withinNorfolk County Councils Public Health Team contributing to real initiatives while studying for aBSc in Public HealththroughCoventry Universityvia day release.

Throughout the programme the Apprentice will build a strong academic foundation and develop a portfolio of experience across diverse public health settings. On successful completion of the apprenticeship gain aBSc in Public Healthand be eligible to register as aPublic Health Practitionerwith theUK Public Health Register (UKPHR).

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and delivery of public health projects aligned with strategic policy areas using recognised project management frameworks.
  • Assist in conducting technical statistical quantitative and qualitative public health analyses including health needs assessments Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) chapters health impact assessments and health equity audits in collaboration with partners.
  • Contribute to the commissioning process by drafting evidence-based service specifications informed by needs assessments supporting procurement contract management and service evaluations.
  • Support the development and implementation of public health strategies.
  • Creatively design and deliver community engagement activities and health promotion materials.
  • Complete all academic and workplace assignments required for successful completion of the apprenticeship programme.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must holdUK Level 2 qualifications in GCSE Maths and Englishat gradesAC / 94.
  • Must have achieved a minimum of112 UCAS Tariff PointsthroughA-levels BTECs T Levels Access to HE Diplomas or equivalent qualifications.
  • This apprenticeship is for new learning. Applicants must not already hold a public health-related degree or be working towards UKPHR Practitioner status.
  • Must beaged 18 or overat the start of the apprenticeship.
  • Must meetUK residency eligibility:
    • Be aUK or EEA citizenwith at leastthree years residencyin the UK prior to the apprenticeship start date
    • Or be anon-EEA citizenwith permission to live in the UK (not for education purposes) and have been a UK resident for at leastone yearbefore the apprenticeship begins.

Apprenticeship Information:

  • The Public Health Apprenticeship is a three-year undergraduate degree course including both work-based and academic learning for BSc and eligibility to register as aPublic Health Practitionerwith theUK Public Health Register (UKPHR).
  • This programme is delivered by Coventry University through a combination of online lectures and on-campus days students attend through day release the equivalent of one day per week throughout the duration. Learning is designed to fit around off the-job hours.
  • The Apprentice must be willing and able to travel regularly to Coventry University for in person learning and attend meetings a variety of settings across Norfolk.

Applicants should be prepared to undertake 3 years of study. The successful candidate should be available to start January 2026; formal course induction is week commencing January 2026 with modules due to commence week commencing (TBC)
