Position Summary

The Director of Business Development leads Linguavas business development team driving both new client acquisition and revenue growth from existing accounts. Reporting to the Vice President of Client Experience this role manages day-to-day execution ensures a healthy and predictable pipeline and develops team capabilities to achieve company growth priorities. The Director partners closely with Marketing and Client Success to align efforts across the client journey ensuring that opportunities translate into strong long-term relationships. By consistently demonstrating Linguavas core values the Director builds trusted partnerships strengthens market presence and delivers sustainable results.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Lead the Business Development team with clear goals accountability and alignment to company priorities
  • Translate company growth strategies into team objectives projects and measurable outcomes
  • Hire coach and develop team members while building a culture of trust collaboration and pursuit of progress
  • Establish a consistent operating rhythm including team meetings pipeline reviews and performance check-ins
  • Consistently demonstrate Linguavas core values

Strategy & Execution

  • Drive business development strategies that expand Linguavas market presence and deliver sustainable growth
  • Direct day-to-day prospecting pipeline development account management and client expansion activities
  • Ensure disciplined use of CRM metrics and scorecards to create transparency and accountability
  • Monitor performance against targets provide coaching and implement course corrections as needed
  • Support expansion into new markets in alignment with company strategy

Client Account Management & Growth

  • Oversee account management practices that ensure client satisfaction retention and revenue growth
  • Partner with Client Success to identify opportunities for upsell and cross-sell that strengthen client relationships
  • Anticipate evolving client needs and adapt solutions to consistently exceed expectations
  • Implement metrics and feedback systems to track account health and growth opportunities
  • Develop relationships with key clients to advance long-term partnerships

Pipeline & Opportunity Management

  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline through outreach networking referrals and partner channels
  • Partner with Marketing to align campaigns messaging and lead generation with growth priorities
  • Track pipeline health conversion rates and cycle times to identify trends and adjust activities
  • Oversee proposals RFP responses and client presentations to ensure quality accuracy and brand consistency

Deal Development & Collaboration

  • Guide deal development and pricing structures within established financial and service guardrails
  • Coordinate with Client Success and Language Services leadership to ensure new and expanded commitments align with delivery capacity and service standards
  • Build trusted relationships with prospective clients and industry stakeholders to strengthen Linguavas market position

Forecasting Metrics & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate forecasts through disciplined sales processes and CRM oversight
  • Establish scorecards and dashboards that track activity pipeline coverage account growth and results
  • Provide timely updates on business development performance risks and opportunities
  • Identify gaps early and implement corrective actions to keep results on track

Communication & Representation

  • Represent Linguava with professionalism at client meetings conferences and industry events
  • Communicate team priorities and progress in a way that creates clarity accountability and alignment across the organization
  • Share client insights and market intelligence with leadership to inform company strategy and service development

Qualifications

Education Certifications & Licenses

  • Bachelors degree in Business Marketing Communications or a related field required
  • Graduate degree in a related field desirable
  • Equivalent professional experience may substitute for formal education

Professional Experience

  • 8 years of progressive experience in business development or sales with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Proven success acquiring new clients and driving revenue growth from existing accounts in a service organization
  • Experience leading business development teams and building consistent metrics-driven execution
  • Background in healthcare language services or related industries strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with multi-state enterprise client organizations and long-cycle business development efforts

Physical Cognitive and Sensory Demands

  • Ability to sit or stand at a computer for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 15 lbs
  • Ability to analyze information manage competing priorities and make timely thoughtful decisions
  • Close vision required for computer use and for reviewing proposals contracts and dashboards
  • Frequent verbal communication in meetings and video calls and clear written communication skills

Work Schedule & Availability

This is a full-time position based on a standard business schedule of Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time. Occasional flexibility in start and end times may be needed to accommodate business needs. Primary work is performed on-site at the Portland office with the option to work from home in accordance with company hybrid-work policies. Ability to travel (<20%) for client meetings conferences and industry events is required.
