Job Description

Alfred Health

Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.

Multiple positions are available for Specialists in Anatomical Pathology who will be on rotation to both Alfred Hospital and Western Health (New Footscray Hospital).

As part of the Alfred Shared Pathology Service the Anatomical Pathology Unit provides high quality diagnostic and consultative services in specialist histopathology and cytopathology. The Unit includes the Victorian Neuromuscular Laboratory service a Molecular Pathology solid tumour service and pathology reporting to the Victorian Melanoma Service.

This position includes active participation in educational and professional development training programs for medical students and registrars. The unit is also involved in and supports a wide range of research activity in association with hospital clinical units and university partnerships. The Unit actively supports ongoing professional development including within areas of diagnostic interest.

Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency possess a fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (or a postgraduate clinical qualification in Pathology which meets the Colleges requirements for this position) and appropriate specialist experience. An experience in molecular pathology and neuropathology would be of benefit.
