Department Profile

Wealth Management Product Technology (WMPT) is a dynamic and fast-paced area within the Firms WM Technology Division. We are responsible for creating innovative technology solutions for the Private Banking Group (PBG) one of the strategic growth areas of the Firm providing cash management and lending products and services to our WM clients. This includes state-of-the-art technology for a nationwide network of Private Bankers and product specialists who work with Financial Advisors to provide access to products and services such as online banking cards deposit products residential mortgages securities-based loans and tailored lending. Position Description:

As part of strategy to design and implement industry leading applications Morgan Stanley WMPT team is looking for a Senior Mainframe software Engineer to join a technologically advanced team focusing on innovation and building out the strategic Technology Platform. Work on QA processes for Banking workstream(s) with heavy focus on execution of automation across the Bank Product Domains dealing with various automation tools and techniques. Candidate will work as part of an Agile squad and interact with other squad members as well as external stakeholders including business and technology partners (local as well as global) across Wealth Management infrastructure team architecture team to deliver the objectives. Candidate will employ CICD well as DevOps principles to achieve SDLC goals of Global Banking Technology.

What Youll do in the role:

  • Work as a part of Fleet on development processes with heavy focus on technical development with various tools and techniques.
  • Estimate prioritize plan and coordinate test and automation activities.
  • Work in the Agile development methodologies collaborating with business and technology teams located globally.
  • Actively contribute and participate in sprint grooming and planning discussions daily stand-ups and Agile ceremonies
  • Distributed hand-on technical lead with 8 - 10 years experience in mainframe development with technical teams in multiple onshore and offshore locations.
  • Good Analytical and problem-solving skills with proven experience in analyzing database program either with or without help from database developer.
  • Good Communication and team player skills ability to work as part of a team developing various aspects of the application such as UI mid-tier services and database.
  • Proven track record of quality deliverables while meeting deadlines by close coordination with various teams such as business QA UAT Operations application support group and infrastructure
  • Experience in integrating with multiple vendor products external vendors using web service or any other formats.
  • Proven experience with at least 5-7 years in managing order generation execution post-order processing across Wealth Management products such as Insurance Annuities etc.
  • Experience in performance tuning optimization code profiling code review hands on experience using Best Patterns and Practices

What Youll Bring to the Role:

  • 9 years of hands-on experience in mainframe development using COBOL and other programming languages.
  • Strong knowledge of mainframe operating systems such as z/OS and z/VSE.
  • Proven experience with tools such as CICS JCL VSAM and DB2.
  • Hands-on Scripting languages (Perl Python)
  • Working knowledge of SQL queries for databases or large datasets
  • 5 years of experience in working with MSSQL Server Schema design efficient query formation optimization and writing stored procedures.
  • Expertise in working with XML XSLT and JSON formats.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Annuity and Insurance Order entry and processing
  • Excellent communication organizational and planning skills
  • Working experience of Agile development methodologies and of DevOps integration
  • Exposure to JIRA or other tools to create a productive high-quality development.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

Skills Desired:

  • Experience of working with multiple vendor tool integration in Insurance and Annuity.
  • Knowledge of Financial market banking products and Wealth Management.
  • Ability to develop proof of concepts/prototypes in the new areas of development.

Educational Qualification:

  • Minimum BS degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field.
