Job Description

Position Summary:

The Environmental Group Leaders primary function is to be responsible for managing the groups staff. This includes technical support quality control review of billings and expenses obtaining negotiating fees scope and supervision of assigned projects to assure projects conform to the firms commitments to the client and that the project is completed within the schedule and assigned budget. Responsible for multiple concurrent projects. Group Managers also have the obligation to actively participate in business development for their group.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical expertise and final QA/QC decisions to the group.
  • Recognizes problems quickly addresses and corrects them promptly.
  • Works with Director to determine overall group fee structure and billing rates.
  • Prepares proposals and contracts for projects. Has authority to quote fees as authorized in policy directives.
  • Conducts meetings with the group to ensure processes and procedures are actively being followed.
  • Works with Director to minimize write-offs within group.
  • Reviews monthly financial reports and coordinates with Director on the groups performance
  • Maintains a good relationship with clients to assure securing future work the client may have.
  • Identifies prospective clients and participates in business development efforts for their group.

Skills and Experience:

The candidate should have skills and experience in the areas of environmental science listed below:

  • Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments
  • Soil and Groundwater sampling and analysis
  • Compliance Permitting
  • Technical Writing
  • Wetland/WOTUS Delineation and Permitting
  • NEPA
  • Ohio EPA Regulations
  • Stormwater
  • Asbestos Lead and Radon Knowledge

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university in a related field or equivalent experience
  • 10 years experience in related work including 4-5 years experience in project management
  • Demonstrate strong organizational communication and computer skills
  • Knowledge and skill of techniques procedures and theories
  • Experience in personnel management and supervising technical work.

Work requirements

  • May require the ability to sit for long periods of time stand walk and manipulate (carry lift move) light to medium weights of 10-30 pounds.
  • Ability to walk construction job sites and climb ladders is necessary.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination arm hand and finger dexterity including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to use a keyboard operate technical equipment read technical information and to analyze complex data.
  • Occasional travel to offsite locations to perform work and work- related errands or to attend meetings may be required.
