Summary:
Under general supervision of the Director of Emergency Services supports the office of Danbury Emergency Management and assists with a variety of emergency management preparatory position assists in the development implementation and review of local emergency management and homeland security plans and works closely with state local private sector and federal planning partners. This position will participate in various committees and working groups including the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) as assigned and will assist in maintaining records note taking and other various reports as requested. This position may also include review and/or as applicable drafting of local emergency operation and hazard mitigation plans/templates review of school security and safety plans/templates and assisting in the administration of hazard mitigation activities and applicable emergency management management drills and actual emergencies may require work outside of normal hours. (This is an annual contract funded position subject to renewal based on performance and funding).
Responsibilities:
ï½1. Assist with disaster preparedness outreach at community and/or public engagements.
ï½2. Assist with establishing critical relationships with variety of special interest groups.
ï½3. Assist with the preparation of applications for relevant municipal emergency preparedness / readiness activities
ï½4. Assist with annual hazard vulnerability analysis (HVA) for the City.
ï½A5. Assist with the functionality of the current Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Assist in developing EOC processes and position-specific checklists and test and maintain EOC equipment on a regular basis.
ï½6.. 6. Assist with the necessary revisions and updates of any existing local emergency plans to ensure compliance with State of Connecticut Division of Emergency Management Homeland Security guidance documents ï½ assist with the creation of new plans to address any vulnerabilities identified by the HVA consistent with best practices in the field.
ï½7. Assist with the development of collaborative mutual aid strategies with key stakeholders.
ï½8. Assist with drills and exercises with municipal department heads and others including table top driven scenarios and full scale exercises where appropriate.

Education: BACHELORS LVL DGRE
Other Information:
Enrollment in graduate program with concentration of homeland security / emergency management professional studies.
