The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site (preferrably in Ottawa) and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors our staff and our communities. Currently employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role
Canadian Blood Services (CBS) is looking for a Regular Full-Time Manager Materials Management to join our dynamic Procurement this role you will be responsible for managing staff to provide a high level of support to Head Office and CBS Sites for sourcingordering and delivery activities of materials from vendors.
Formula for Success
- Provide strategic and operational leadership by managing daily operations delegating tasks optimizing workflows overseeing budgets hiring and training staff ensuring regulatory compliance and upholding regulatory and ethical standards to drive departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead purchasing and inventory control operations by leveraging SAP and Ariba systems to ensure data accuracy timely order management cost optimization risk mitigation and high service levels all while driving continuous improvement and supporting CBS operational requirements.
- Oversee policy interpretation and compliance across inventory and purchasing functions; collaborate with cross-functional teams to revise procedures and recommend capital expenditures; and provide ongoing training and support on SAP ECC and Ariba systems through various communication channels..
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop products and services aligned with CBS needs resolve quality and service issues per cGMP standards gather insights on emerging technologies and foster strong supplier relationships to support continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and redesigns work procedures to meet CBS requirements by collaborating nationally with staff streamlining processes in systems like Ariba and ECC MRP reviewing project stages communicating project details to end users and delivering training as needed.
Desired Education and Skills
- Post secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution preferably a preferably a Degree in Commerce Operations Management Business or Economics.
- At least six years or progressive experience as a Manager within the Material Management field.
- C.P.I.M. designation from the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) is mandatory.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA would be considered an asset.
- cGMP training at the advanced level is desirable.
- Flexibility and excellent organizational skills are required to meet competing and changing priorities and demands.
- Proven ability to successfully manage and implement major projects on a national scale.
- Excellent problem-solving analytical and planning skills are required.
- Proficient skills using Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.
- Strong supply management expertise.
- Strong communication skills in English are essential.
An equivalent combination of education and skills will also be considered.
