The Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst provides oversight and operational leadership for security monitoring event triage and incident response activities ensuring continuous protection resilience and readiness of FAA systems and networks. This role integrates deep technical expertise with strategic planning and interagency collaboration to defend against emerging cyber threats while ensuring compliance with national policies regulations and security standards.

Key Responsibilities

Cybersecurity Monitoring & Incident Response

  • Oversee the continuous monitoring of FAA systems and networks ensuring timely detection of suspicious or anomalous activity.

  • Lead event triage processes assessing severity scope and potential impact of security events.

  • Coordinate incident response actions ensuring rapid containment eradication and recovery from cybersecurity incidents.

  • Provide after-action analysis and contribute to the development of lessons learned and best practices to strengthen operational resilience.

Cyber Operations Planning & Support

  • Develop and implement detailed support plans for a range of cyber operations in collaboration with planners operators analysts and military leadership.

  • Participate in targeting selection validation synchronization integration and execution of cyber activities to support mission objectives.

  • Provide operational guidance and technical recommendations to ensure alignment with FAA priorities national security requirements and interagency mandates.

Policy Compliance & Governance

  • Analyze and review cybersecurity strategies doctrine policies and directives ensuring compliance with federal regulations FAA-specific guidance and military requirements when applicable.

  • Assist interagency partners in the development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cyber operations and mission support.

  • Develop review and apply specific cyber operations guidance for integration into broader enterprise and agency planning activities.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Advisory

  • Act as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders including federal defense and interagency partners to ensure alignment of objectives and resources.

  • Provide input into the administrative and logistical elements of operational support plans including resource prioritization and capability acquisition.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to leverage analytical and technical expertise to meet mission requirements and enhance system security.

Operational & Strategic Contribution

  • Review approve prioritize and submit operational requirements for research development and acquisition of advanced cyber capabilities.

  • Provide recommendations to leadership on cyber operations objectives strategies plans and programs.

  • Draft and deliver briefings policy documents decision papers staffing packages memorandums and official correspondence for senior leadership and interagency stakeholders.

  • Contribute to organizational improvement by developing new approaches for coordination integration and execution of SOC and cybersecurity operations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity Computer Science Information Systems or a related field.

    • 15 years of relevant experience with a BS/BA.

    • 1215 years with a MS/MA.

    • 1013 years with a PhD.

  • Expertise in cybersecurity principles operations security cyber threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Strong knowledge of national regulations policies ethics and standards as they relate to cybersecurity and cyber operations.

  • Demonstrated experience with incident response event triage and SOC operations in a complex high-stakes environment.

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (Public Trust or higher up to TS/SCI depending on assignment).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior military or federal service with a deep understanding of military hierarchy leadership and command structures.

  • Experience supporting FAA DHS DoD or intelligence community cyber operations.

  • Familiarity with financial or operational planning processes including preparing and analyzing real-time data for leadership decisions.

  • Strong skills in policy development operational planning and interagency coordination.

  • Proven ability to brief senior leaders and prepare clear actionable technical and policy documentation.

Target Salary Range

$135000 - $216000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position the individuals experience education knowledge skills and competencies as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position employees may be eligible for overtime shift differential and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
