Aircraft Repair Engineer

Oliver Wyman Vectors Engineering group in Mexico City is seeking an experienced Aircraft Repair Engineer. Oliver Wyman Vector is a leader in aerospace and defense consulting and services and this role is a critical part of our expanding airframe repair design and approval business. Key Responsibilities

  • Assess damage to U.S. CFR Part 25 transport category aircraft by identifying affected structures in accordance with the Structural Repair Manual (SRM) or other approved post-manufacture repair and alteration documentation; determine allowable damage limits.

  • Develop detailed instructions for Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMT) to identify and contain damage and report accurate locations and dimensions.

  • Design repair solutions for common damage scenarios conduct static strength analyses and substantiate repair integrity to ensure continued airworthiness.

  • Identify relevant Airworthiness Directives (AD) and Alternative Methods of Compliance (AMOC) applicable to the repair area; evaluate compliance impact and manage AMOC approval processes as required.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. CFR Partsand 121 throughout the repair and approval process.

  • Collaborate closely with project lead engineering team members and clients to facilitate the repair process coordinate documentation and ensure timely airworthy repairs.

  • Prepare precise and focused service requests directed to Aircraft Type Certificate (TC) and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) holders for repair instructions and FAA or designee approval.

  • Draft and submit AMOC requests on behalf of airline customers to achieve compliance with existing ADs.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. CFR Part 121 airline heavy maintenance operations.

  • Proven experience interpreting and utilizing aircraft manuals such as Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC) Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) Maintenance Planning Document (MPD) Airworthiness Limitation Section (ALS) Structural Repair Manual (SRM) among others.

  • Practical application of compliance methodologies per FAA Advisory Circular AC 120-93 for repairs and alterations to Fatigue Critical Structure (FCS) as required under U.S. CFR Parts 26 and 121.

  • Proficiency in drafting engineering repair drawings utilizing AutoCAD or other 2D design software.

  • Expertise in developing engineering authorizations (EA) and associated substantiation reports (SR) to support repairs.

  • Completion of Boeing Training Course Structure Repair for Engineers Part 1 or similar is preferred.

  • Bachelor of Science engineering degree (or equivalent) with 3 years of relevant experience in designing and substantiating airframe repairs for U.S. CFR Part 25 aircraft.

Additional Information

  • This is a full-time position based in the Mexico City office or worked remotely within the nearby region.

  • Travel is expected to be less than 10% annually.

  • Opportunities exist for career progression into a lead repair engineer role.
