Electrical Engineering Undergraduate Placement Year

Programme title: Electrical Engineering Undergraduate Placement Year

What youll be doing

Youll be based within the Submarine Support Engineering (SSE) team which focuses on maintaining in-service submarines and provides technical engineering support to the Ministry of Defence. Over the course of 12 months youll gain exposure to a wide range of engineering challenges from defence engineering to complex nuclear projects.

As an electrical engineering undergraduate youll have the opportunity to tailor your experience to areas that interest you most. Youll apply your academic knowledge to real-world scenarios contributing to meaningful projects and working alongside experienced professionals.

Expect to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support the delivery of engineering solutions that help ensure the safety and effectiveness of the UKs submarine fleet.

What youll need

  • You must be working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Many of our graduate programmes are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth nationality citizenship or residency you hold or have held may impact which programmes you are eligible for. For this programme you must be able to achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) clearance.
