Summary

DLA Piper is seeking a lawyer with a minimum of eight years experience handling commercial leases (specifically including office industrial and retail) to join its Real Estate Group. Solar leasing experience is valued but not required. This position is open to our Atlanta Boston California Chicago Miami New York Reston Texas and Washington DC offices.

Job Responsibilities

  • Acting as the lead attorney in drafting and negotiating commercial leases and related agreements such as transfer consents lender subordination agreements letters of intent work letters and SNDAs; supervising the work of less experienced leasing attorneys; interacting directly with clients opposing counsel property managers brokers and other relevant parties.

  • Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction in which you are applying

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of experience drafting and negotiating commercial leases and related agreements such as term sheets letters of intent work letters and SNDAs.

Job Competencies & Desired Skills

  • Understanding of the commercial leasing market including what is market for various types of leases and lease-related issues

  • Experience with leases for multiple property types including office retail industrial and life science.

  • Substantial experience representing landlords.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and colleagues

  • Ability to understand our clients business objectives and to produce work quickly and efficiently

  • Strong negotiating skills

  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously

Physical Demands Work Environment and Other Requirements

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Pay Transparency

The firms expected hiring range for this position is $250000 to $300000 per year depending on the candidates geographic market location. The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidates experience skills educational and professional background and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k).
