Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Staff Psychiatrist to provide essential psychiatric care within our Forensic Rehabilitation Program (FRP) on Ward E. This role involves delivering high-quality in-person psychiatric services to a specialized caseload of approximately 24 clients with serious mental illnesses and antisocial traits. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player committed to long-term patient recovery and working within an integrated multidisciplinary treatment team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Patient Care: Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation diagnosis and treatment for a caseload of approximately 24 clients on Ward E.
- Treatment Planning: Develop implement and monitor individualized treatment plans in a forensic rehabilitation setting.
- Medication Management: Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications monitoring for efficacy and side effects.
- Clinical Documentation: Maintain timely accurate and compliant medical records for all clients including:
- Admission Notes completed within 60 hours of admission.
- Weekly progress notes for the first eight weeks post-admission transitioning to monthly notes thereafter.
- Discharge Summaries completed within 30 days of discharge.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively as a core member of a friendly multidisciplinary team which includes a psychologist social workers a dietician a rehabilitation therapist and a pharmacist.
- Clinical Leadership: Provide psychiatric expertise and guidance to the treatment team regarding patient care and management.
Required Qualifications & Credentials:
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited residency program in Psychiatry.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
- Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Missouri.
- Current Missouri Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (BNDD) registration.
- Current Missouri Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
Work Environment & Patient Population:
- This position is located at the FTC South Campus and requires all services to be performed in person.
- The assigned patient population on Ward E consists of clients with serious mental illnesses and antisocial traits.
- The average length of stay for clients is four to five years allowing for deep therapeutic engagement.
- The unit experiences a low turnover rate with approximately 1-2 admissions and discharges every two months.
- Many clients participate in the facilitys Client Work Program (CWP).
