Woodward is hiring a Staff Operations Engineer (level 4) and reports to Technical Leadership and whose focus is performing design and support of high complexity manufacturing systems and equipment mentoring to other Engineers and driving process improvements. This position works under a low level of supervision with a high level of independent work. The Staff Operations Engineer provides awareness and understanding of overall project portfolio interactions and addition this position may participate in project specific relationship building with Customers Suppliers individuals or organizations.
What you will be doing...
Production Support:Oversee production across multiple lines standardize troubleshooting procedures and implement system-level improvements. Manage hardware disposition processes to minimize waste and ensure quality compliance.
Equipment and Procurement:Oversee equipment selection troubleshooting strategies and plant-wide standards for optimizing performance and maintenance. Negotiate procurement terms and contribute to capital justification efforts preparing financial analyses and ROI calculations.
Programming CNC Equipment:Create programming and tool packages for CNC equipment to optimize machining operations and ensure efficient production processes.
Project Management:Oversee cross-functional manufacturing projects managing complex timelines budgets and deliverables within a value stream. Lead communication efforts to ensure alignment and transparency across teams.
Documentation and Standards:Manage production documentation to ensure consistency compliance and accessibility. Integrate digital systems to improve collaboration and efficiency. Develop guidelines for DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) and standardize tooling/fixturing designs across lines.
Process Improvement:Drive Lean transformations using methodologies like Kanban JIT and statistical process control (SPC). Develop and implement data-driven models to reduce variability improve resource allocation and enhance operational efficiency.
Process Optimization:Manage scalable workflows to maximize efficiency across value streams ensuring adaptability to production changes and customer demands. Optimize manufacturing processes by balancing labor material and overhead costs using cost analysis tools.
What we are looking for...
Education:
US Bachelors Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) - Required
US Masters degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) Preferred
Experience:
Greater than 8 years professional engineering experience or a combination of experience and advanced degree
License & Certifications:
Six Sigma Green Belt Preferred
