Job Summary

ROLE SUMMARY

The Finance Director will provide financial leadership on external development opportunities offering business consultation and analytical support throughout all stages of the BD process including AiP due diligence FMA signing and integration. This includes traditional M&A co-development and co-promotion opportunities divestitures and external funding. The Finance Director will collaborate closely with Business Innovation (BI) partners specifically the Business Development (BD) and Commercial Strategy and Innovation (CSI) teams as well as various finance functions to review deal models provide recommendations support integration and track deal execution. Leveraging industry expertise and rigorous review the Director ensures strategic alignment capital efficiency and delivery on financial commitments

Additionally the Finance Director will serve as the business finance leader for equity investment decisions partnering closely with the Pfizer Ventures (PV) and Pfizer Breakthrough Growth Initiative (PBGI) teams as well as other finance functions throughout analysis diligence decision-making and execution.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development Deals

  • Engage in BD assessments pressure testing revenue and P&L assumptions and ensuring deal structure aligns with optimal capital allocation strategies

  • Ensure Finance teams across the enterprise are bringing their expertise to business development opportunities at the right time and with the proper amount of rigor

  • Coordinate with Finance teams to ensure resources required to support the external opportunity are captured accurately in deal models

  • Prepare deal recommendation for senior leaders including Senior VP of R&D Finance

  • Oversee the integration of business finance functions and participate on Finance and GBS integration workstream

  • Propose budget allocations of business development funds to VP Finance BD for all functional areas across Pfizer

  • Track deal performance versus expectations in conjunction with BD team and monitor one-time integration and deal transaction costs

  • Provide business partner support and financial advice and counsel to the Business Innovation organization for key initiatives and investment decisions including preparation and presentation of business cases

Reporting & Analytics

  • Finance partner to Pfizer Ventures to support investment decisions and execution of investments including tracking valuations of current investments forecasting and returns calculations ($100-500M annual new investments; $2B assets under management)

  • Central point of contact for all equity investments (public and private) for finance organization including tracking and reporting on equity holdings and returns for leadership liaising closely with Treasury GBS PBGI and Pfizer Ventures teams; current portfolio value $2 billion; annual new investment range from approximately $100M - $500M.

  • Collaborate with GBS Controllers and Treasury teams to execute cash transfers oversee valuation impairment and audit compliance of equity investments

REQUIRED BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in finance accounting or related field

  • 10 years of progressive experience in finance roles including multiple business partnering roles supporting different functions

  • Proven 4 years of experience as Finance leader and business partner in complex and dynamic organizations and environment

  • Expertise in pharmaceuticals and/or healthcare financial reporting including the ability to quickly analyze financial reports digging through data to understand key drivers and components of businesses.

  • Past experiences leading or contributing to business development assessment and integration

  • Past experiences leading or contributing to equity investment decision making and/or valuation

  • Exceptional business acumen and analytical skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and successful experience operating in highly matrixed organizations; strong cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Strong leadership skills especially navigating organization dynamics

  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and present to executive leadership

  • Consistently delivers results on complex projects despite ambiguity and shifting priorities.

  • MBA strongly preferred


Work Location Assignment:Hybrid

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $156600.00 to $261000.00. In addition this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
