Are you passionate about communication community engagement wellness and supporting the Social and Behavioral Sciences If so we invite you to apply for the Coordinator Position with the Social and BehavioralSciences Department at the University of Southern Maine.

The Coordinator of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Services (SBS) Academic Supportwill be responsible for:

  • Managing coordinating and prioritizing the day-to-day administrative operations of the SBS department.
  • Providing specialized administrative logistical and scheduling related support to the new Interprofessional Health Clinic on the Lewiston campus.
  • Coordinating and assisting in the selection and placement of SBS undergraduate internship sites including securing new internship sites coordinating communication documentation and support of external community stakeholders involved in the internship process.

The Coordinator will also have teaching responsibility of the internship course on a once-a-year rotating addition the position will coordinate and support the complex advising needs of a large undergraduate program including a new departmental advising plan.

Designed to enhance students understanding of the psychosocial and cultural influences shaping individual lives and social institutions the University of Southern Maines Social and Behavioral Sciences Programinterweaves interdisciplinary courses in liberal arts with foundational SBS courses and a variety of courses providing more specific tools of the trade. Required courses such as Toward a Global Ethics and Applied Social and Public Policy reinforce appreciation of the impact of societal influences. Students expand upon this knowledge through choices made from an extensive array of elective courses. Many students focus their choice of electives thematically pursuing a concentration in Counseling or Public Health or a minor or certificate in Public Health or Regulatory Ethics.

This a full-time position to be located on our Portland Campus with a starting annual salary of $45000.

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters degree and 3 years of related experience (due to teaching rotation).
  • Experience with project coordination in an academic or equally complex setting
  • Computer proficiency - intermediate to advanced
