Job Description

Family and Relationship Counsellor Part-time

Location: Launceston

CatholicCare Tasmania are seeking an experienced and passionate Family and Relationship Counsellor to work out of our Launceston office.

CatholicCare Tasmania is the primary social services agency of the Catholic Church across Tasmania.

We have 60 years experience delivering a wide range of services and support to improve individual family and community wellbeing.

Our services are available to people of all backgrounds religious beliefs and circumstances and focus on children young people and families.

We employ more than 450 staff across the state and offer a variety of programs and projects across the key areas of Children Family Housing Multicultural Services Counselling and Emergency Relief.

About the Role

Our Personal Family and Relationship Counselling Program focuses on the individual client whilst holding in mind a purposeful approach to building capacity and improving relationships with key people in the clients life.

As a Family and Relationship Counsellor you will work with individuals across the lifespan with a broad range of presenting issues and this may include: providing a range of focused psychological strategies to individuals experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues; working with couples experiencing relationship issues or seeking to separate; providing parenting skills and education sessions; family counselling; working with individual children and young people; and/or timely counselling to our EAP clients.

There are also opportunities to facilitate group programs. The diverse range of client presentations provides the opportunity to work within a great team in your area of expertise.

This role provides you the opportunity to be inspired and rewarded by the work we do as well offer opportunities for professional development.

About You

  1. You will have demonstrated experience in working with individuals and families which may include grief and loss substance use issues parenting family violence or mental health concerns noting three years post-graduate direct counselling experience is required for our EAP clients.
  2. A tertiary qualification at degree level in Social Work Psychology or related discipline is essential.
  3. You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to effectively develop and maintain partnerships networks and client relationships.
  4. You will be required to hold a current Working with Vulnerable Persons Registration current Australian drivers licence and maintain eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.
