SCHEDULED HOURS: Monday-Friday 11AM-7:30PM

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

Works with Program Director to oversee operations of Emergency Departments Recover Support Specialist (RSS) program. Provides supervision and consultation to ensure RSSs use their lived recovery experience to help others with behavioral health needs identify their own recovery goals develop individualized recovery strategies and promote self-advocacy. The RSSs are knowledgeable regarding community resources and assists in linking clients to behavioral health follow up care natural (family friends) supports community resources including LGBTQ Veterans and/or other support groups in a culturally informed strength-based manner. The RSSs participate in interventions to help reduce health care disparities which may include screening for Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) such as housing food security and transportation to identify and then help resolve barriers to healthcare.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures timely response <2 hours of Recovery Support Specialists to local Emergency Departments to meet and support individuals presenting in Emergency Department settings during a behavioral health crisis.
  • Ability to work with hospital-based staff EMS law enforcement and clients natural supports.
  • Supports the use of lived recovery experience to assist clients in identifying and advocating their own recovery goals. Assist in informing and educating others on establishing or strengthening their own recovery strategies.

  • Coordinate or provide independent and/or co-response with mobile clinical staff on crisis outreaches and or follow up visits to promote client centered recovery-based approaches.
  • Coordinates or provides interventions to help reduce health care disparities which may include screening for Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) such as housing food access and transportation to identify and then help resolve barriers to healthcare.
  • Complies and shares knowledge of appropriate community resources and assists in linking clients to behavioral health follow up care natural (family friends) supports community resources including LGBTQ Veterans and/or other support groups in a culturally informed strength-based manner.
  • Ensure follow-up engagement support including but not limited to brief recovery coaching relapse prevention and safety planning support and inclusion of family involvement where appropriate.
  • Ensures team collaboration with individuals to identify treatment options and assist in positive engagement with new or existing treatment providers.
  • Uses best practices including motivational interventions to assist clients in meeting their goals and moving along their paths to recovery.
  • Ensures contract requirements are met and agency policies are followed.
  • Evaluates staff and addresses performance issues per agency policies when needed.
  • Ensures accurate and timely completion of reports and data on performance indicators DMHAS standards program enrollment incident/accidents etc.
  • Participates in hiring orienting and training staff.
  • Reviews caseloads regularly to ensure appropriate utilization of services.
  • Participates in committees to improve agency service delivery and quality improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: Lived experience establishing and maintaining recovery from behavioral health condition preferred. Recovery Support or Recovery Coach Certification preferred. High School Diploma/GED or bachelors degree.

    Experience: Preferred 2 years working with identified populations and specifically as an RSS; self identifies as an individual with mental health and or substance use disorder in long term recovery

    Licensure/Certification/Registration: Recovery Support Specialist Certification from Advocacy Unlimited Recovery Coach Certification from CCAR or an equivalent certification related to the field of Recovery Support required or must obtain within 6 months of hire. Valid Drivers License required; Use of personal vehicle may be required for position.

    COMPENSATION*:

    $22.0646/hour minimum and up commensurate upon experience

    *Actual rates are determined at the time of offer and are based on relevant experience and internal equity as well as adherence to our internal equity policy. Many of our positions offer program/location differentials and/or sign-on incentives. (Please note for part-time positions this range would be pro-rated based on hours worked)
