Job Description
TheCollege of Nursing at the University of Tennessee Knoxville seeks a versatile and student-centered Clinical Instructor to contribute to educating the next generation of health care professionals. About the Position
The ideal candidate will have a record that demonstrates excellent teaching potential with expertise in teaching topics in nursing. Additionally the ideal candidate should have a strong commitment to teaching and service and should thrive in a diverse and intellectually stimulating environment.
Duties:
- Participate in the ongoing development implementation evaluation and enhancement of nursing academic programs:
- Teach nursing courses as assigned. While the candidate may be hired to primarily teach in a specific program or program level teaching assignments are based on UT CON needs as well as individual faculty member expertise and performance; faculty may be asked to teach across both undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Supervise and provide written evaluation of nursing students as assigned
- Collaborate with clinical agencies in arranging student clinical experiences (e.g. orientation to objectives of clinical experience course syllabus clinical schedule et al) as appropriate.
- Ensure courses reflect program outcomes AACN essentials state board of nursing minimum standards current evidence and best practice
- Participate in program and course revisions
- Participate in the evaluation and ongoing enhancement of the curricula
- Apply evidence from best education practices to teaching
- Contribute to the mission and strategic priorities of the College of Nursing and the University of Tennessee Knoxville
Work Location:
Various clinical sites in the Knoxville Tennessee area
Clinical models may vary the days of the week each semester
Required Qualifications:
- Earned Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) at time of appointment.
- 3 years of nursing practice experience.
- Licensure as a registered nurse in Tennessee prior to employment
- Evidence of successful clinical and/or classroom teaching experience
- Effective interpersonal skills and cultural competence
- Ability to work with a diverse group of students and colleagues
Desirable Qualifications:
- Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD)
- Eligibility for RN/APRN license in Tennessee
- Experience with instructional media and technology
