Job Summary

We are excited to offer an opportunity for aBehaviour and Pastoral Officerto join our team atThe Portsmouth Academy.

As a key member of our Patrol Team you will promote positive values attitudes and good student behaviour across the school whilemaintaining a strong and visible presence around the site. Your work will make a real difference in supporting students to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

The role focuses on:

Reducing levels of absence from lessons and poor behaviour amongst key groups (including disadvantaged SEND and vulnerable students)
Working closely with identified students and their families to improve levels of engagement and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive
Embodying and upholding the schools core values in everything you do

Previous experience of working with young people in a school or similar setting
The ability to enforce standards around attendance to lessons behaviour and culture so thateach student can be their best self
Knowledge experience and understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils staff parents and external professionals
An understanding of the developmental emotional social and educational issues of children and young people
